Since I was talking about design inspiration, checking out other designs seemed appropriate. ;)

You do bring up a good point, however. Sometimes you have to step away from the computer to get your inspiration.

Thanks for the comment, hope to see you back here.

Hi Rebecca,

Font choice can certainly be tricky. At the end of the day, readability is still key so being limited in the fonts used for body text may not always be such a bad thing. As a designer, however, the limitations can prove frustrating. :)

http://www.1001freefonts.com/fontdisplay/ayummyapology.gif

for its body text? Yikes!

Wonderful comments Rebecca, and right on the mark. Since I'm off for the holiday, the RSS button is the 2nd thing on my to-do list, right after a new post. :)

Hi Kristine! I'm wondering how I missed mentioning the good 'ol dial-up ding ding ding of the 90s. It's a bad memory I try to forget.

I remember entering a URL, going to fold a load of laundry, then coming back and hoping the page had loaded. I got a lot more housework done back then. ;)

I did create a blog in middle school in about 1995. I think I used all of those, repeatedly. I'm glad the page isn't cached anywhere that I know of. I remember dialing up to my internet connection to transfer everything over FTP. How'd I have the patience?

Hi Ben! I actually started this post as a "what not to do" post after coming across a site that was stuck in '98. I did realize that while 90s design is not prevalent any longer, it's still always nice to take a look back. Boy did this post take me back! :)

Hi Laura,

I hope you've subscribed, or bookmarked so you will be back! While this article does lean towards a platform, the information also pertains to bloggers who "go it alone."

You are right. CSS is CSS, no matter what your CMS is!
